SEPTEMBER 18, 2024

Chester, Connecticut, established in 1672, is nestled close to the Connecticut River, not far from the shore, which played a significant role in the town's early development. Its proximity to the water allowed for the construction of mills and small factories during the 18th and 19th centuries, contributing to its industrial growth.  One notable historical site is the Bates Factory, now known as the Terris Theater. While it currently serves as a vibrant community theater, it originally operated as the country’s first hook and needle factory.

Chester remains a warm and welcoming town, offering plenty of amenities for visitors, including public restrooms and a variety of dining options. I personally enjoy the local favorite, Otto, known for its handcrafted Neapolitan pizza cooked in a brick oven—a perfect stop in a town that blends history with contemporary charm.

The beauty of Chester in any season, but especially now, invites possibilities for exploration, whether through its historical landmarks or its present-day hospitality.
